Festivals of Odisha

Experience Odisha’s vibrant cultural festivals including Rath Yatra, Bali Jatra, Raja Parba, Dola Purnima, and tribal melas.

Odisha's calendar is full of festivals, many of them tied to the Jagannath tradition, the farming year or the state's maritime past. The biggest is Rath Yatra in Puri, when the deities ride huge wooden chariots through the town. Raja Parba celebrates the earth and womanhood over three days in June, Bali Jatra in Cuttack recalls the voyages of Kalinga traders to Southeast Asia, and Cuttack's Durga Puja is known for its silver filigree pandals.

Bhubaneswar also hosts large winter events such as the Adivasi Mela, the Toshali National Crafts Mela and the Konark Dance Festival. Each guide gives dates, rituals, venues and visitor tips. Festival dates follow the Odia lunar calendar and change every year, so check the date in each guide and plan transport and stays early for Rath Yatra and Bali Jatra.
