Adventure & Eco-Tourism

Nature camps, wildlife sanctuaries, tiger reserves, trekking hills, water parks, and eco-retreat destinations in Odisha.

Odisha's forests, hills and rivers make it one of the better states in eastern India for eco-tourism. The state forest department runs a network of community-managed nature camps, from the Similipal Tiger Reserve in Mayurbhanj, known for its rare melanistic tigers, to the Satkosia gorge on the Mahanadi and Sarafgarh in Sundargarh. For trekkers, Deomali in Koraput is the highest peak in the state.

This category also covers family days out, including the Nandankanan Zoological Park safari near Bhubaneswar and the water parks around Puri. Each guide lists booking options, tariffs, the best season and what to pack. Most forest camps close for the monsoon, roughly from mid-June to September or October, so check the season before you book.
