Puri to Howrah Vande Bharat Express Trial Run Details
Recently, the Indian Railways successfully conducted the first trial of a semi-high-speed train on the mentioned route, marking an important milestone. Two more trials are scheduled before the train can be officially available to passengers.
The Puri to Howrah Vande Bharat Express is expected to significantly reduce travel time by approximately an hour between the two destinations. Currently, the fastest train operating on this route is the Puri Shatabdi Express, which takes around 7 hours and 35 minutes to complete the journey.
However, during the trial run, the Vande Bharat Express covered a distance of 500 kilometres in just 6 hours and 25 minutes, demonstrating its impressive speed and efficiency.
The trial run took place on April 28, with the train departing from Howrah at 6:10 am and arriving at Puri at 12:35 pm. On the return journey, it left Puri at 1:50 pm and reached Howrah at 8:30 pm.
Throughout the trial run, the train operated within a maximum speed limit of 130 km/h. Officials from various departments including Railway Safety, Engineering, and Commercial were present on board during the trial run, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the train’s performance.
Puri to Howrah Vande Bharat Express Overview
The Vande Bharat Express is a self-propelled train, which means that it doesn’t require a locomotive to pull it. It can run at a maximum speed of 160 km/hr, making it one of the fastest trains in India.
The train is equipped with many modern features such as automatic doors, onboard Wi-Fi, and a GPS-based passenger information system.
Although the Vande Bharat Express is capable of running at 160 km/hr the current trains do not run at 160 km/hr because most of the existing railway tracks are not upgraded to support the speed.
The Vande Bharat Express also provides passengers with a comfortable travel experience. The train’s interior is designed with ergonomics in mind, providing ample legroom and reclining seats.
It also has a modern air conditioning system that can regulate temperature and humidity, making for a comfortable journey even in extreme weather conditions.
